Kathy Cooper is a nurse practitioner specializing in aesthetics, laser therapy, photobiomodulation, anti-aging, and regenerative medicine. She is our medical director at Ohana Aesthetics and Wellness. With multiple degrees and certifications, as well as experience in a broad range of nursing disciplines, Kathy has a studied understanding of the body and the mind — how to stimulate both to work together to achieve healing and growth. The most important and laudable achievement for Kathy is being a mother and wife. Her family is her top priority. She loves reading to her children and taking them to sports and activities. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Salt Lake Community College where she teaches surgical and mental health clinical courses in the nursing department. In her spare time, she likes to travel, read, and do Pilates. Kathy's emphasis on holistic methods has led our practice to focus on noninvasive procedures that benefit patients more than high-cost, high-risk surgical options. Kathy continues to study and learn how to best offer true healing measures for herself, patients, and family.
Education and Training
Kathy received her education at Weber State University where she has obtained multiple degrees in science and nursing. A lifelong lover of all living things, she initially received a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology, graduating summa cum laude, followed by a second Bachelor of Science in nursing. Following her passion to invest in people's health, Kathy attended graduate school for a Master of Science in nursing education, followed by a post-graduate degree for her nurse practitioner license, also at Weber State University. Her clinical training included dermatology, regenerative orthopedics, functional medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine, all of which have served to enhance her philosophy and approach to research-based, holistic care at Ohana Aesthetics and Wellness. Kathy's career has been marked by continual professional development and attunement to the latest research in order to offer her patients the very best in medicine, comfort, and care.
Specialties and Expertise
Kathy's extensive experience in medicine has served to enhance her understanding of the body and its incredible potential for restoration. Some of her most formative career experiences include working as a registered nurse with specialties in bone marrow transplant and regenerative cell therapy, as well as serving as a charge nurse at a residential treatment center for teenage boys. Because bone marrow and regenerative cells are both deeply involved in the body's immune system development, Kathy's registered nursing experience has given her tremendous expertise in helping the body heal. Likewise, her work with local youth has given her an appreciation for how the environment and daily practices can shape our mental and physical health. For these reasons, Kathy emphasizes research-supported, holistic, and noninvasive approaches wherever possible, comforting the mind and unlocking the body's natural ability to rejuvenate itself. This includes coaching her clients on lifestyle modifications, diet, exercise, and mindset, as well as providing energy-based therapies, such as IPL (intense pulsed light), laser hyperpigmentation treatment, laser skin resurfacing, and laser scar treatment.
"I looked them up to help a family member out of state, knowing they do applied kineseology.Wasn’t sure how they’d compare to my guy in San Diego. Dr Brian worked wonders for her !!I knew she had a rib out, but they found and fixed a whole lot more!If I ever make it out there I’ll go there just to compare methods negat because this work is so fascinating"
"Dr Joe is amazing! He helped me so much with tmj and also my whiplash. Everyone is amazing and so caring!"
"I threw my back out and went in to see one of the Chiropractors at Ohana. He not only fixed up my back, but also re-aligned everything on my right side to fix the underlying issues. I was sore for a few days, but I could walk without pain. He also was able to do some deeper healing as well with some energy work. He released some irritation detected with some specific areas of my body. Later on I found out that I had cysts associated with those areas. It is cool that he was able to detect that. I appreciate that Ohana does everything they can to help your issues with multiple facets of healing."
"We have been going to Dr Joe for months and he is fabulous. He has helped both my husband and I with our back and shoulder pain. He does muscle testing and NUCCU too, which are great. Highly recommend!"
"Massage was great with well trained staff. I didn’t get a adjustment, it was just a massage. Great prices for the service, I’ll defiantly be coming back."
